I DON'T eat McDonald's...here's ANOTHER reason why

I LOVE this blogger named Vani Hari. A lot of you might know her as The Food Babe. Now, she's made it her life mission to bring awareness to the crap that we eat. Her life is about that and she can afford to eat ideally, not all of us can. Including myself. But I do LOVE to learn what she knows and I like to apply what I can into my lifestyle.

This might be controversial for some of you out there, but she is the reason I don't drink latte's from Starbucks - more specifically caramel spice latte. **gasp** WHAT?! No Pumpkin Spice Latte for this autumn weather. Sorry leggings and scarves - I can't jump on that band wagon. 1. Because while I LOVE pumpkin anything - I never really liked that latte. 2. It's full of crap, and I know that thanks to The Food Babe.

So, What does all this have to do about McDonald's? Well, I haven't eaten McDonald's in over two years now and it's because I just knew it was crap food, made me feel like crap and was a waste of money. Thanks to The Food Babe I have even better reasons to not eat there - UNLESS maybe when I got to the UK.

Here is why:
"McDonald’s also serves organic milk with their porridge (oatmeal), coffee and tea! You’ll also find healthier items, like pineapple and carrot sticks that you won’t find at any McDonald’s in the U.S. – also without preservatives. Their fries aren’t cooked in oil that contains TBHQ (a derivative of butane) or the anti-foaming agent dimethylpolysiloxane (an ingredient in silly putty) like they are here. Isn’t it funny that the oil in the U.K. seems to work just fine without these ingredients?"

But do you know what? McDonald's isn't the only company that serves the people in the UK different things! Taco Bell, Starbucks, Pizza Hut and Subway are a few others! Why is it that THEY can get better food than US?! Because we want our food to be as cheap as possible? Is it worth the health/financial damage it's bringing us later? Because we're uninformed and the demand for BETTER food just isn't as high? I don't think it's any one reason. I think it's a mix of them all.

Be informed with what you're putting in your body. And be informed that if enough of us have something to say about it we could be eating like those in the UK rather than the crap that's in our foods here. You DON'T HAVE to eat crap, it's possible to change that!

Thanks again for tuning in!

xoxo
Nikki
