I HATE/Don't have time to go to the gym!
I am one of these people. I hated going to the gym mainly because making the time is so incredibly hard for my busy lifestyle of a working mom. For others the gym intimidates them. I know I had a friend who would always say "I'm too fat to go to the gym, it's so embarrassing." But the truth is no one is watching you, and if they are fitness buffs chances are they're applauding you for taking a great step towards a healthier you!
Again, I have some tips and tricks to help you! Hear me out:
- Go during slow times until you’re comfortable or ask personal trainers to show you the ropes – they’re there to help you! (That IS what they get paid for) and remember: very few people at the gym are experts so go in there with your workout planned out and move confidently from exercise to exercise on a mission.
- Rally the troops and partner up with a gym buddy: there’s strength in numbers. BONUS: you’ll have a built-in spotter to push yourself on exercises and an accountability partner who will be waiting there for you, rain or shine.
- Zone out: whether it’s your iPod during strength training sessions or watching the TV during cardio, take your focus off the other people and instead on the fact that you’re there for YOU! Take it one day at a time and you’ll eventually make “gym friends” and look forward to going. If all else fails, see excuse #4 for non-gym workout alternatives.
- Another suggestion is to workout at home - which is what I do primarily now. I have a few different workout programs that I use to get my sweat on (Turbo Fire, T25, PiYo, and 21 Day Fix) I also like to use free workouts on YouTube, at Tone It Up and Blogilates.
I actually just made an upperbody workout on my YouTube channel just the other day!
And another yoga one as well:
There will be more to come so keep tuned in! Subscribe ;-)
